Barricades Save Lives and Control Crowds
Barricades can be a lifesaver, they simply save lives by their presence. People know they must be cautious when they see a barricade with barricade lights on the road. The very presence of a barricade signals that there is road construction ahead or there is something else to watch out for on the roadway. When barricades are around, especially ones that have flashing lights atop them, drivers or pedestrians know that there is something to watch out for and are able to slow down for it. Whether it be a barrier to ongoing road construction, a barricade for crowd control for whatever reason or a barricade to a building construction site, barricades are an essential safety and warning device.
Barricade Applications
One of the main and most important applications for barricades and barricade lights are blocking people and cars from entering certain areas. This includes blocking off entire streets, whether for construction or another reason. Barricades are also often used to block people from entering an area where a crime has been committed or a fire or other natural disaster has occurred. Barricades can also be used to keep people off the street where a movie is currently filming. When a storm or hurricane has just occurred, many times a barricade will be used to block off an area and to alert passers by of a sinkhole, flooding, mud or rock slide, debris on the roadway that has yet to be cleared or other road damage or problem. Barricades can even be used to block off a pothole that is dangerous. Barricades have many applications where their main purpose is to block people from entering an area.
Crowd control is another way barricades are used. We ve all seen the images of New York s new year s eve celebrations, where literally millions of people gather in Times Square to watch the ball drop. Without
barricades in this situation, people might be crushed or injured. In addition, barricades help to divide the
area into sections that are much more easily controlled and monitored by police than one large mass of
people. Without the barricade s dividing the area into manageable sections, police may not be able to get to a person who falls ill due to the cold or a health problem. They also would have less of a chance to get to any violent incident that erupts in time to stop it from escalating. Barricades can also be used for crowd
control in sporting events, concerts, gatherings, demonstrations and just about any other event where crowd control is crucial. When you see a president, a royal, presidential candidate or any other very important person, you will usually see barricades in use, usually for crowd control reasons.
These are just some of the many ways that barricades actually save lives and prevent injury or accident.
