Teenage Car Owner

“Hello! Get a look at my new wheels. Wow! All my friends will be envious. The babe magnet of the universe is about rule the streets.”
Dad says, “Check the oil often, keep the proper amount of air in the tires, always keep the windshield clean, keep fluid in the windshield washer, use good quality gas, and check the engine water now and again. Pay your insurance, don t be late. Watch your speed, don t put the peddle to the metal or you will be grounded. You are not a taxi service, don t fill that car with teenagers, then burn the wheels off of it. And you had better not be drinking and driving.”
“That wagon he is driving is for old folk! He has to do all those things or that clunker would not budge. He has forgotten what it is like to be a teenager.”
Out the door, out of sight, and you guessed it. I will ascend upon this city the Lord of the Land or should I say the Lord of the Wheels.
Wait. What am I thinking? I am not ready to become a Teen Angel. I want to get a diploma, a degree, and live a life.
Dad is absolutely right. I need to accept responsibility of a automobile if I want to drive and have my own vehicle. It is important that I obey the law, and learn to be a defensive driver. I should even take a defensive driving course I could learn a lot, plus I would get a discount on my insurance.
If my friends do not think I should follow my Dad s advice, then maybe they aren t really my friend.
My Dad helped me to get this car, so I think I should, at least, do my best to follow the rules. That is not asking to much of a Teenage.
Accountability don t have to be a drag. It is okay if the old man gets to brag.” This could be the thoughts of any teenager. It is the responsibility of the parents to help teenagers find their directions in life.
